The S&P 500 splits into 11 GICS sectors, and the Select Sector SPDR series has one ETF for each. The table lists what each one covers and its latest return. The numbers come from the same snapshot as the weekly pages and refresh after each trading day's close.

What are the 11 SPDR sector ETFs?
XLK Technology, XLF Financials, XLV Health Care, XLY Consumer Discretionary, XLP Consumer Staples, XLE Energy, XLI Industrials, XLB Materials, XLU Utilities, XLRE Real Estate and XLC Communication Services. All belong to the Select Sector SPDR series, and each holds the S&P 500 members of one GICS sector.
Why are there 11 sectors?
GICS has 11 top-level sectors today. Real Estate was split out of Financials in 2016, and Telecommunication Services was widened and renamed Communication Services in 2018. That's why XLRE and XLC are the two newest funds in the series.
How do sector ETF returns relate to SPY?
SPY tracks the whole S&P 500, and the 11 sector ETFs cover roughly the same members split by sector. The relative strength vs SPY on the weekly pages is how much more or less one sector moved than the whole index. The formulas sit at the bottom of every weekly page.
